February 2005 - Stop telling yourself you are not fat. You know in your heart how you feel and its up to you to change things. You have waited long enough and can't keep on disliking yourself anymore. Take the bull by the horns, get off your backside and start.

March 2005 - Take one step at a time and the rest will fall into place. Do the exercise and the diet will start to happen almost by itself.

Thinking About FitnessApril 2005 - Stop beating yourself up and start to love and like yourself. You will exercise and stop eating junk when you value yourself.

May 2005 - Increase the amount of exercise that makes you puff and pant at this time of year - your body will have grown used to the intensity of your recent exercise programme.

June 2005 - Serotonin is the brain's satisfaction chemical. to riase the level of serotonin is to eat tryptophan rich foods such as fish, eggs, cheese, milk, yogurt, nuts. Foods that help these tryptophan foods turn into serotonin are brown rice, porridge oats, wholemeal bread. Foods that do not contain tryptophan are fats, oils, sugar and alcohol.

July 2005 - The shortest distance between two people is laughter. Laughter reduces stress, relaxes the body and lifts your mood. Try spreading some laughter into your life with those you live and work with.

August 2005 - Make the most of the last warm weeks of summer by invetsigating your local adult education centre to see what they have on offer - a new interest will keep you mentally and physically alive during the winter.

September 2005 - Gardening can be heavier work at this time of year. Make sure you use your knees when you bend rather than your back and that you stretch regularly during your gardening tasks.

October 2005 - Accept you want to do less in the evenings when the nights draw in - make the most of your daylight. Get outside and get as much daylight as you can - it lifts your mood and its great for building your bones!!!

November 2005 - If your waist is over 40 inches (102cm) as a man or 35 inches (88cm) as a woman, you should go and have your blood pressure, blood glucose and blood lipids checked as soon as possible. There is an increased risk of diabetes and heart disease when you are hitting those figures (Source - Diabetes UK)

December 2005 - Even on cold days, open some windows. The fresh air will clear away the stale air that comes from central heating.
